Quality Control for sale of Raw milk

Our milk is raw  and has not been heat treated  and therefore may contain organisms harmful to health .

Our herd is farm assured and is TB free and is tested on a annual basis. The herd has been closed for the last 25 years.

We have a level 2 in food safety  and hygiene and will be inspected on a regular basis by the Food Standard Agency for a dairy inspection report which complies with the Food Hygiene Regulation (Wales) 2006. The Food Standard Agency (Wales) strongly advises that it should not be consumed by children, pregnant women, older people or those who are unwell or have chronic illness.

To have a licence to sell raw milk we have to meet the standard laboratory tests that are taken by the Food Standard Agency every three months.  These tests are for the total viable bacteria count or (TVCs) of the raw milk .  We are also tested each week by the national milk laboratories for the following butterfat, protein, SCC, bactoscan  urea water and antibiotic. We also run our business in accordance  with HACCP ( Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point).  We have shared our protocols with the environmental health team in Monmouthshire.

If you search the internet for raw milk there is a lot of information about health benefits some are scientifically proven and some are not.  It is the consumers choice to purchase  and drink our milk; we have ensured that all the correct protocols and legal requirements are in place to sell what we think is a quality product produced from a herd of cows that have high welfare standards.
